yeah...esp when i hear ppl come out fr worship hall and said 'wha...today's worship is good man!! so anointed'

Honestly, there is nothing wrong with the CHC kind of worship. It’s just that many of them ‘play-act’ to show enthuasism and vibrancy. They are encouraged and ‘forced’ to worship in such a manner by their fellow cell leaders and cell members. You have to be regarded to be with the ‘in-thing’ within the church cell group clique or you might counselled by your cell group leader why you don’t show enthuasism in worship. In order to move up to be a better christian in their context, you must exhibit that kind of joy and excitement when worshipping or else you would be thought of as not strong in your love and faith in God.

Rock and worship are 2 parellel lines which willnever see eye to eye, which will never meet.

Integrating rock into worshipping is crap. CHC lavish's church is tantament to the ignorance of what worshipping & holiness is all about.

Look at catholic churches, they are v. solemn. They (Catholics) listen to what the priest is talking about, they sing hymns, they read the gospel, they have their holy communion, etc.. not in a wild and 'fun' manner.

In other words, am I right to say, its not the mode of music that we are really concerns about, but rather the attitude of these "worshipers" and their understanding of what is the real meaning of worship that are the real issues here.

Matthew was most probably quoting from the Old Testament.

Well .. the Gospel of Matthew was written for the Jews so we shouldn't be surprised some Old Testament stuff appears in there.

Anyway since Christians don't believe in offering gifts at the altar (what altar? lol), this is not really a Christian belief.

so what is worship all about? arent we supposed to have fun, enjoy ourselves in the “presence of God” or be happy that he is Great, almighty, as the songs all put it? in this kind of atmosphere, being solemn and serious is a bit hmmm…arent we praising the lord through worship? a solemn affair would deem appropriate but it doesnt mean that the meaning of worship is changed when the atmosphere is changed isnt it?

Just like many other things - a lavish Church, inconsiderate Christians every sunday etc.

I agree with your statement. Worship is not limited to simply music or even service to church or its members.

It could be simply the strong presence of God with you when all is quiet or to feel the glory of God while watching the sun set.

It has to do more with the attitude of the person rather than the medium.

All I can say is, do not limit the means and ways God provides for you to worship him. Rather, be careful on your attitude and your own desires.

Many things in Christian life are not fun .. like suffering (in the general sense), missionary trips, matyrdom etc.

We're not called to suffer though. Many try to look at Christianity and apply other religion rules, even Catholism.

Christianity has no system of penance and karma, which is something alot cannot understand and even many christians cannot accept. It is so simple to accept that Jesus has took upon every sin in the past, present and even in the future?

Man has the sin mentality. With that comes guilt and the need to perform deeds to 'right' yourself. Difficult to accept and comprehend, christians are 100% free.

You must remember suffering, missionary trips and martyrdom are not a necessary part of being a christian.

does not means we can offend others and just walk away like nothing happen, just that our approach is that we still have a relationship with God, hence the confidence to approach the offended party to make right with them.
(different in term of sequence, make right with God first, then the offended party).

Ok .. let's not talk about far-fetched examples like martyrdom. How about broken relationship with friends and families? For it is written (in Luke 12):

51 Do you think I came to bring peace on earth? No, I tell you, but division. 52 From now on there will be five in one family divided against each other, three against two and two against three. 53 They will be divided, father against son and son against father, mother against daughter and daughter against mother, mother-in-law against daughter-in-law and daughter-in-law against mother-in-law."
